The effect of growth rate to carcass formation in hybrid pigs.
Original language description
The effect of various growth rate on achieved carcass lean meat share characteristics as well as a loin eye area formation (MLLT) during station test was the objective of the trial. For that purpose 216 pigs of common genotypes used in the Czech Republicwere tested. The housing of the animals followed the metodology for testing of purebred and hybrid pigs complying with the principle of 2 pigs/pen (1barrow/1gilt). For the duration of test 1625 measuring were realized. All pigs were fed ad-libitum by common feeding mixtures and were sorted according their growth rate (ADG) into 5 groups (less 750g, 750-850g, 850-950g, 950-1050g, above 1050g), whereas obtained values were listed in the 7 live weight (LW) categories (less 60kg, 60-70kg, 70-80kg, 80-90kg,90-100kg, 100-110kg, above 110kg). From the obtained results is evident that lean meat share in the carcasses significantly (P≥0,05resp. P≥0,001) dropped down with respect to increasing growth rate by all LW-categories as wel
