Review of pH-oscillators in the CSTR
Original language description
The article summarizes findings obtained by studying technical literature, which describes dynamical behaviour of pH-oscillators in a continuous-flow stirred tank reactor (CSTR). The set of found pH-oscillators can be divided into hydrogen peroxide, oxohalogen and biochemical oscillatory systems. Oxohalogen oscillatory systems are subdivided on basis of main oxohalogen groups into chlorite, bromite, bromate, iodate and periodate systems. In the part of biochemical oscillatory systems three oscillators were included: the papain-membrane-substrate system, the reaction of glucose in the presence of the enzyme glucose oxidase and models of periodic drug delivery. Parameters affecting the behaviour of oscillatory systems are discussed. The most important control parameters for pH-oscillators are input concentration of the reagent, flow rate, rate of mixing and temperature. Some systems are sensible on visible light or presence of carbon dioxide in the stock solution.
