Methods for attachment of antibodies onto optical biosensors

  • Original language description

Biosensors based on the evanescent light wave can detect in real-time the binding of analytes to specific bioreceptors immobilised on the surface of an optical transducer. Various methods for antibody attachment to gold surface of SPR sensors or metal and silicone oxide surfaces of waveguide based sensors are discussed in relation to the number of immobilized antibodies, preservation of the antigen binding site activity, accessibility of the binding sites for the analytes, and sensor resistance againstthe adsorption of nonspecific compounds from tested biological media. Possible immunosensor applications are compared with the contemporary immunosorbent assays.
