Splitting of bubbles in counterflow
Original language description
The effect of liquid properties on bubble lifetime was investigated experimentally. Glycerol solutions provide higher liquid viscosity, butanol is used to evaluate an effect of decreased surface tension, and calcium chloride solution represents the liquid containing an amount of negative surfactant. Water solution of polyacrylamide was used as a newtonial liquid. For all presented experiments, air was used as the gas phase. Large bubbles levitate in the liquid counterflow and their lifetime was measureduntil its splitting.
