Hepatitis delta virus (HDV) is a satellite virus of the infectious human pathogen hepatitis B virus that can cause acute live infection. HDV uses for its replication a small catalytic RNA molecule called hepatitis delta virus ribozyme (HDVr). We used themolecular dynamic simulations and hybrid ab initio-molecular mechanic QM/MM calculations to uncover the reaction mechanism of HDV ribozyme in presence of Mg2+ ions.
