Robotic Toys and Kits in Primary School Education
Original language description
Nowadays, robotic toys and kits are one of the ways for children to start building a relationship with technology and robotics already in kindergarten or primary school. The robotic kit allows STEAM (combining science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) to teach in practice. Robotics is a tool for developing 21st century's key competences. The task of teachers is not only education, but also preparation of pupils for the future and their future profession. Robotics develops informative thinking, logical thinking, reading, mathematical and digital literacy, creativity, diligence, manual skills, patience and a positive relationship to self-education. It allows to make decisions, respond to changes, work in a team, present and defend one's ideas and solutions. Creativity in problem solving is an integral part. All these competences are important to the labor market. Currently, curriculum changes in education are being prepared in the Czech Republic. The article describes examples of the use of different robotic toys and kits in different grades at primary schools based on their experience and experience of primary school teachers in particular. Empirical research will be (was) carried out by exploratory methods (questionnaire, discussion, interview). The work is focused on the use of robotic toys and kits in education at primary schools.
