Using Generative Artificial Intelligence to Support Learning with a Specific Focus on Language and Literature Education
Original language description
This article examines the phenomenon of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and its integration into education, with a specific focus on language and literature instruction. GenAI is defined as technology capable of creating new content and communicating through natural human language. While offering significant opportunities for personalized learning, the automation of teacher tasks, and immediate feedback, it also presents risks such as factual "hallucinations" and ethical challenges. Research indicates that approximately half of Czech pupils already use these tools, primarily ChatGPT. The text provides practical methodologies for using large language models to develop linguistic competence through specific prompts for vocabulary games, syntactic training, and creative writing. In literature and media education, GenAI supports reading comprehension, creative poetry tasks, and the identification of manipulative techniques. Despite these benefits, application is limited by age requirements and linguistic inaccuracies in Czech grammar. Ultimately, GenAI should serve as a support tool that frees space for higher-order thinking, such as analysis and evaluation.
