    Effect of aerodynamic resistance of rotering circular saw blades on power reguirements for sawing wood and agglomerated materials

  • Original language description

    Total power required for sawing wood and agglomerated materials is equal to the sum of power inputs for proper sawing and power for idle run of implements. In ripping wooden materials by circular saws, the power input for idle run is comparable with thepower required for ripping itself (for materials below 30mm in thickness). In materials whose thickness is below 20mm the power input for idle run is greater than the power required for proper sawing. A decisive proportion in the power input for idle runappears to be the power needed for overcoming the aerodynamic resistance of the rotating circular saw blade. Based on experimental studies, the paper defines the value of power input required for overcoming the aerodynamic resistance as related to cutting speed, size of circular saw blades, and effects on total power take-off during the working time.
