    The aim was to determine if the L-carnitine-dependent decrease of plasma lactate could be due to a modification of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity. We found an increased of brain LDH activity with the age. However, we did not observe any significantdifferences in LDH activity after exposure to hypobaric hypoxia or L-carnitine pretreatment. In contrast to brain, serum LDH activity did not show any age-dependence. The hypoxia exposure increased LDH activity of 21-day-old rats only. Pretreatment of rats with L-carnitine decreased serum LDH activity of 21- and 90-day-old rats. In conclusion, acute hypobaric hypoxia and/or L-carnitine pretreatment modified serum but not brain LDH activity

    Aktivita laktátdehydrogenázy v séru a mozkové kůře nezralých a zralých krys po hypobarické hypoxii

    Cílem práce bylo určit, zda snížení laktátu v plazmě vyvolané podáním L-karnitinu bylo způsobeno modifikací laktátdehydrogenázy (LDH). LDH v mozku se zvyšovala s věkem, avšak nebyla ovlivněna hypobarickou hypoxií ani podáním L-karnitinu. Naproti tomu, sérová LDH nevykázala věkovou závislost. Vystavení akutní hypobarické hypoxii zvýšilo sérovou LDH u 21-denních potkanů. Podání L-karnitinu potkanům vystaveným hypobarické hypoxii snížilo sérovou LDH u 21- a 90-denních zvířat. Lze uzavřít, že akutní hypobarická hypoxie a/nebo L-karnitinové podání modifikovaly sérovou, ale ne mozkovou LDH
