Treatment of Ocular Surface Inflammation
Original language description
Despite of immune privilege of the corneal tissue, inflammation is the most harming response after the corneal injury. The treatment generally consists of local application of lacrimal substitutes, corticosteroids, cyclosporine A, epithelial debridement and corneal transplantation in the most severe cases. We presume that mesenchymal stem cells are suitable source for the cell therapy of ocular surface because of their numerous anti-inflammatory effects.
