Continuous Composite Bridge Girder Buckling Behaviour under Uniformly Distributed Load
Original language description
Lateral buckling of continuous composite girders of steel and concrete occurs in hogging bending regions. Because the tensile flange is supported in rotation, only the compressed part of the section buckles and the web distorts. Therefore, the mode of buckling is so called lateral distortional (LDB). The inverted U-frame action is commonly used for to simplify such behaviour. This paper focuses on a particular type of composite bridge consisting of several parallel plated I-beams connected to a concretedeck. The numerical study is being developed by the first Author of the paper on a model of a bridge structure continuous over three spans with two I-beams connected by a concrete deck loaded with uniformly distributed load on the top of the deck. The structure is provided with the web stiffeners and lateral bracings. ABAQUS software is used for FEM analysis of the model. The analysis is governed for both the ideal structure and structure with imperfections and both critical moment and
