Model-free Setting of PID Controllers in Comparison with Other Tuning Methods
Original language description
Many theoretical techniques and procedures have been developed for PID controllers, the most popular group of controllers, with the aim to optimize the function of control circuits. However, they are seldom used in real applications, except when there are some extreme requirements on the safety and operational quality of the control loops. There are several reasons for this unsatisfactory situation, one of which is necessity to master a difficult theo-retical background. In this paper we will confront some of these reasons with the new idea of performing controller autotuning without knowledge of the plant model that is being con-trolled.
