Working Cycle Changes by EGR Delivery into Intake of SI Engine in a Low Load
Original language description
This article is focused on the changes investigation of both rate-of-heat-release (ROHR) and pumping work in the working cycle of a low loaded naturally aspirated SI engine by delivery of uncooled recirculated exhaust gas (EGR) into the intake. The investigation was performed in the experimental way. Changes in the working cycle investigation was carried out within the framework of research of the possibilities for low loaded of SI engine efficiency increasing. A small engine efficiency increase was detected only under the conditions with small EGR rate in intake. Examined SI engine was natural gas fuelled with stoichiometric concept. Low load of engine was represented by value of bmep = 200 kPa. Significant decrease of the pumping work was achieved under massive EGR rate conditions. Burning velocity was decreased with increasing of the EGR rate. However, a small increase of burning velocity was detected under the conditions of very high EGR rate.
