Original language description
In this article the effects of the substrate on the properties of TiN thin films were studied. The TiN coating was deposited by a high energy IBAD technology on mechanically polished substrates of hardened high speed steel, of unhardened high speed steeland titanium alloy . The hardness and other mechanical properties were determined and compared by nanoindentation test. Results show that the hardness of the substrate is the crucial value for the hardness of the films.
