The Influence of Mixture Heating and EGR Delivery on SI Engine Efficiency at Part Load - Final Results
Original language description
Content of the article is description of final results from research of the influence of both mixture heating and uncooled EGR delivery on SI engine efficiency (throttled, Otto cycle) at part load (bmep = 200 kPa). Earlier published results were unfortunately affected by poor repeatability of measurements. Based on this fact, modernization of measurement technique and also change of measurement procedures were implemented. Unlike earlier published results, it was found that mixture heating itself has almost no positive effect on engine efficiency. Compared to this, uncooled EGR delivery has a small positive effect on the engine efficiency. However, this small positive effect appears only for low EGR rate (about 10%), only in a range of low engine speeds. It must be noted that all of experiments were carried out under both of conditions: optimal value of ignition timing and unchanged settings of lambda-control loop (lambda = 1).
