    Relay feedback identification using guiding evolutionary algorithm

  • Original language description

    The Guiding Evolutionary Algorithm (GEA) was proposed by Cao, Xu and Goodman in 2016. The original algorithm was designed to apply the advantages of the previously published Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the Bat Algorithm (BA). As part of this work, the effectiveness of the GEA algorithm in solving multi-modal optimization problems is analyzed and the results are compared to those obtained using PSO and BA. Once the algorithm is verified and accepted, the same is then applied to a System Identification task using a relay-based feedback method and finally, upon successful identification of a dynamic system, the system is controlled using a PID controller. The work investigates a non-linear approach to identification of dynamic systems using simple Second Order Plus Time-Delay Models (SOPTD).
