Distributed Classification in Wireless Sensor Networks for Machine Condition Monitoring
Original language description
The use of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) in Machine Condition Monitoring (MCM) can bring many advantages compare to a classical approach. WSN is composed from nodes, where each node contains microcontroller, RF transmitter and sensor(s). The advantage ofWSN is mainly in flexibility and easy installation in hardly accessible areas. However, the significant disadvantage is a limited data flow from nodes to central controller. This is related to low transmission capability and to effort to minimize energyconsumption of each node. Hence it is not suitable to send the raw data from each node and interpret them in one the very last (main) node of a network. In this paper we propose an MCM system based on WSN using data pre-processing and feature extractionimplemented in nodes of WSN. The idea behind is to run the learning and operation phases on different platforms (PC versus WSN).
