Experimental Investigation of Strain inside the Sandwich Composite Structure
Original language description
The aim of the article is focus on experimental investigation of strain inside the sandwich composite structure. The sandwich composite structure is composed of face sheet and light weight core. These layers have different material and mechanical properties. Sudden change of these properties causes interlaminar stress inside the sandwich composite structure. A good knowledge about behavior of sandwich composite structure is important for efficient manufacture techniques, long-term prediction of behavior and for economics. The face sheet of the test specimens were made from epoxy-resin-impregnated glass laminates with plain weave. The light weight foam Divinycell H100 was used as sandwich core. Two fiber-optic strain gauges, SOFO SMARTape Compact deformation sensors, were used for long-term monitoring of total strain in sandwich composite structure. Test specimens were loaded in three-point bend-ing test.
