Increasing attention focused on the competences required by the information society leads individual schools and the entire education system to introduce necessary changes within their curriculum. The aim of the current education is to develop digital literacy and computer science thinking of pupils, to improve their competence to work with digital technologies, and to introduce new learning methods. The change in the content of education, accompanied by expanding demands on teachers' competences, is reflected by scientific studies, research plans and scientific literature. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to elaborate a study that provides an insight into on-line collaboration in education. The study is a tool for summarizing and reviewing the development and current state of knowledge with an emphasis on research results and literature. The study will serve as a basis for a research on digital competences of secondary vocational school teachers, that is currently carried out at the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies, Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), as part of a research grant from the Czech Technology Agency. The objective of the project is based on the development and experimental verification of the proposed educational program of digital competences of neglected professional group of teachers of social sciences in secondary vocational education. An output will be a study that focus on on-line collaboration in education. The acquired knowledge will be the starting point for the research carried out at the MIAS, CTU in Prague, and may be reflected in the national curriculum in the reforms of school education systems. Education incorporating on-line services and cloud computing increases efficiency in completing common tasks. The results of the study will make it possible to develop a basic overview of the focus of research interest in the field of methodological approaches, and of general outcomes.
