Population changes influence the availability of workers and sustainable development. The paper examines demographic trends, the aging population, and best practices for integrating migrants into society and the labor market. Methods are both quantitative and qualitative. It utilizes on-the-desk research of secondary sources. Primary research consists of a questionnaire survey conducted in 2022 on sustainable human resource management (HRM) in Czechia and findings achieved from a qualitative study carried out in 2022-2023 among Ukrainian migrants searching for jobs or employed there. The results provide reasons for changes in the local labor market due to the aging population, early retirement, and human resources diversity. They present practices of sustainable HRM used by employers and show the reality of integrating migrants. The conclusion argues for a need to rethink migration policies and implement sustainable HRM, particularly for highly qualified jobs, in response to the future labor shortage in Czechia.
