Model-Matching: Algebraic Indirect Approach vs. Direct VRFT Approach

  • Original language description

The contribution presents comparison of two different approaches to the problem of model-matching. The first one is represented by the well-known and elaborated methodology based on the algebraic operations under a certain ring. This approach is an indirect one - it requires a description of the plant to be known. The second technique is a direct one - it does not rely on a plant model - it identifies a controller directly from the system input-output data. A representative of this approach is the Virtual Reference Feedback Tuning Methodology (VRFT) - a recently developed one-shot method for direct optimization of controller's parameters. Both approaches, direct and indirect, are compared on a problem of (exact) model-matching.
