The article shows that the use of heuristic teaching methods can help to improve the students' ability to solve problems and their ability to learn independently. The aim of the article is to explain how to include problem solving in mathematics teaching and how to apply experimentation as a method of solving problems. Examples of using typical heuristic strategies to solve problems in teaching mathematics are given here.
