Establishment of bilateral cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of medical infrared thermography

Anotace anglicky

The main object of the study and work trip is to share experience and knowledge in the field of medical infrared thermography (MIT). The recent development of small portable high-resolution infrared cameras has given us the opportunity to explore more uses of this technology as a non-invasive diagnostic imaging tool in a large cross section of medical fields including neurology, rheumatology, dermatology, surgery (e.g plastic and cardiac), sports medicine and dentistry. MIT has also the advantage of low operating costs, speed of the examination and is a safe method for both the patient and medical staff (no ionizing radiation involved). The Norwegian partner is an internationally recognised expert in the use of MIT in both clinical and experimental situations, running one of the few dedicated MIT laboratories in Europe at a University Hospital The workplace of the Czech partner is only one of the few in the Czech Republic where are trying to implement experimentally infrared thermography into medical practice. The aim of the work visits is to exchange ideas and experience on the challenges surrounding the use of MIT, especially in the field of surgery. We also wish to develop thematic practical course for both participating parties including the medical staff and medical students from Masaryk University. A further longer-term goals of our proposed collaboration is to create a virtual MIT centre where it will be possible to interact with other European partners and specialist in this topic.
