Designers in the Czech Lands and the Czechoslovak Machinery Industry

Anotace anglicky

The project focuses on applied research of industrial design of technical branches in the Czech lands during the period of the former Czechoslovak state, tracking the events of recent past and present. It will focus on the creation of specific authors - personalities who have co-authored the character of industrial design and, thus, industrial production and culture of the subject environment in the former Czechoslovakia. Each of the six scheduled exhibitions with a critical catalog will work with the results of basic research. The research will follow the circumstances of the very creation of selected products, the starting points and the procedures of establishing the cooperation between design engineers and industrial designers, the problems of their own cooperation and the relation of art work, construction and technology. It will also focus on the upbringing of industrial designers in our country. The following applied research will concentrate on the process of designing in the the work of individual prominent personalities and design studios, as well as the position of design work in relation to the socio-economic situation during the period under review. The very content of the term "Czech design school" will be explored as well as external influences and possible overlaps abroad. 1) to contribute to the development of history and theory of design with emphasis on pedagogical activities; 2) to inspire methodology of history of technology by emphasizing the process of complex product development; 3) to influence the contemporary design scene by a deeper understanding of the historical achievements of industrial design in Czech engineering; 4) bring industrial design to the public as a socially beneficial engagement of science, technology and art, not as an attribute of exclusive lifestyle.

Zhodnocení výsledků projektu

Cílem projektu byl aplikovaný výzkumu průmyslového designu technických oborů v českých zemích v období československého státu (1918-1992) s podchycením nedávné minulosti a současnosti. Cíle vytyčené v projektu byly splněny. Uplatněné a schválené hlavní výsledky projektu 100 %, uplatněné a schválené vedlejší výsledky projektu 94 %, uplatněné a schválené ostatní výsledky projektu 100 %.
