Historical cultural landscape in danger and vision of its development in the context of current landscape changes

Anotace anglicky

The general purpose of the research is to identify present and predictable anthropogenic and natural hazards threatening the historical cultural landscapes (HCL) – part of the national heritage of the Czech Republic; under the selected HCLs to identify their values and susceptibility to various types of danger, especially with regards to exploitation and intensification of land use, loss of awareness, and underestimation of cultural and historical values of the landscape as well as natural hazards related to global climate changes. In the context of landscape development reflecting social and natural impacts, the goal is to develop innovative practical tools for landscape planning and management, heritage care and related disciplines towards the minimization of impacts on cultural and historical values of landscapes. Specific partial goals in achieving the general goal include: 1) identification of valuable segments of selected types of preserved (culturally significant) HCLs within the entire Czech Republic upon a certified national typology of historical cultural landscape and standard of phenomena monitored in territorial analytical data; 2) to define the main global and local hazards for valuable HCLs, both anthropogenic and natural; 3) in selected model territories to identify hazard indicators and define relevant approaches to eliminate or compensate the negative impacts by appropriate measures, and 4) to use a creative way to communicate to the stakeholders within the territory the social and heritage value of the relevant HCLs and the vision of their development in the context of current landscape changes. The project follows up to the achieved results of the previous research of HCLs and strives to improve the protection and preservation of this part of our cultural heritage, accentuating its future development. It is fully in compliance with the commitments of the Czech Republic issuing from the national legislation and relevant international conventions.
