On our own: Opportunities and Risks in the Individualization of Society

Anotace anglicky

The PRINS project aims to understand both the opportunities and risks of individualisation of society. The four research objectives (VZ1-4) will explore the intended and unintended consequences of individualisation on people's everyday lives and develop ways to reduce its negative effects in favour of increasing individual or societal resilience. Specifically, in VZ1: Family and Intergenerational Relations, the infrastructural database "GGP-Contemporary Czech Family" will be enriched, the basis for mitigating social inequalities in intergenerational care and for addressing the causes and impacts of reproductive ageing in the Czech population will be developed. VZ2: Societal Mental Health will explore opportunities to use assistive technologies, specifically to personalise and target mental health care, in addition to the impact of technology on the mental health of the population. This will result in sub-tools to support mental health care. VZ3: The polarisation of society will contribute to the identification of mechanisms that reinforce or, conversely, weaken the fragmentation of society. The findings will be communicated in the form of recommendations to interest groups addressing the topic of social inequalities and social cohesion. To reduce social polarization in the digital space, software will be developed to identify online aggression and to detect manipulative techniques. VZ4: Methodological research for an individualised and risk-oriented society aims to improve the quality of the data obtained within the framework of the above-mentioned objectives and to innovate social science research methods that are outdated or costly. It will provide key insights and innovations for all institutions involved in data acquisition, processing and interpretation, such as market research agencies, marketing or institutions dedicated to educational research and the development of psychodiagnostic tools and standards.
