Production of new plant genetic resources for wheat resistance breeding by wide hybridization and with utilization of tissue cultures.

Anotace anglicky

Project is oriented on a identification and exploitation of new genetic resources of the powdery mildew and leaf rust resistances in the Aegilops collections (Ae.speltoides, Ae.margrafii, Ae.tauschii, Ae.cylindrica) and T.boeoticum collection in the RICPGene Bank (Praha-Ruzyně). Some of them were gathered by expedition activity. The aim of the project is the diversification of the resistance genes resources and the introduction of new genes from wild species for reduction of the speed adaptation abitity in the pathogen populations. For introgression of genes to wheat the triploid bridge method and amphiploids will be used. The mutation CS(ph1b) will be used to increase the homeologous chromosome pairing and the plant tissue cultures and chemomutageneswill be used for the induction of chromosome translocations. Molecular markers will be developed for monitoring the introduced chromosome segments in hybrids.
