Anotace anglicky
The project proposes an in-depth analysis followed by synthetic studies concerning the habitus of Czech researchers in sciences and humanities from 1918 to 1968 and will use a comparative perspective on two generations of scholars: the older generation was most active in the interwar period, whilst the younger’s formative era were the 1950s and the 1960s. The studies chiefly concern general characteristics of a personal habitus and related practices, but also include in-depth case studies of select scholars of both generations. The individualised perspective will allow for a complementary detailed view on personal formation and careers. The methodology will concern 3 areas, which have specific source and method demands but are closely interrelated - and integrated in actual lived experience – professional environment and activities, personal and family life, and leisure time. Also the practices of international networking in research and of travel and residence abroad will be considered as an integral part of scholarly existence, including specific interest in the Developing World.
