Gambling significantly affects many aspects of social reality. This is why it is an issue that has long been part of the subject focus of various scientific disciplines. However, research to date has selectively focused on particular elements of gambling. The present project, therefore, seeks a more comprehensive approach to gambling research. It focuses on strategies for regulation, which are always influenced by administrative boundaries and, at the same time, influence the gambling landscape. The project's main objective is to identify the factors affecting the varying levels of availability of gambling in the context of recent legislative changes and to assess the importance of availability in the development of problem gambling among potentially more vulnerable populations. The findings will contribute to the theoretical enrichment of the current knowledge on the transformation of gambling in post-communist states and present implications for the design of state and regional gambling policies.
