Anotace anglicky

The project aims at detailed research of life and work of sculptor Jan Křížek (1919-1985), one of the most significant Czech artists to had settled in France. Mainly a sculptor, he left behind many drawings and prints, which yet remain unmapped. During his sojourn to Paris, Křížek participated on the period artistic events and was in contact with the main actors of the art scene of that time: as one of the first artists, he exhibited in the newly founded Dubuffet's Foyer de l art brut (1948), ranked tothe circle around Charles Estienne, theoretician of post-war Abstract Art and advocate of Tachism, frequented meetings of the Surrealist Group and corresponded with André Breton. The work will be based on Křížek's inheritance, testimonies, period material and works held both in public and private collections. Its result will be hitherto most complete monograph of Křížek and the inventory of his oeuvre and his classification into the context of French and Czech artistic scenes.
