Growth and development of young beech and spruce mixed stands with different thinning regimes
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Study evaluates growth and development of experimental mixed beech and spruce stands four years after first different thinnings. According to number of trees: on control plot 1 and on plot 2 (thinning from above) beech portion has been increasing and spruce portion decreasing continually and on plot 3 (thinning from below), beech and spruce portions are nearly balanced. According to basal area: on control plot 1 and on plot 3 beech portion has been increasing and spruce portion decreasing continually and on plot 2 ratio is practically unchanged. In connection with effect of thinning on stand microclimate, amount of dry biomass and nutrient content of biomass from holorganic horizons (L, F and H) has been investigated since 2003. The preliminary resultsshowed, that about 128 thousand kg of dry biomass per hectare is collected in holorganic horizons (L ? 5.5 thousand kg.ha-1, F ? 18 thousand kg.ha-1, H - 104 thousand kg.ha-1) under investigated 25 years old spruce and beech mixed stand.
