One new species of bark beetles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) was discovered for the first time in Czechia, Taphrorychus hirtellus Eichhoff,1878. Its record in Czechia might be the result of spreading of the northern occurrence border of species from warmer (southern) territories, which we can see in some cases. The species is oligophagous mainly on Quercus tree species, but may occur also on other deciduous trees. The species is of no economical importance until now.
