Control system to verify and identify the origin of forest reproductive material suitable for afforestation after a bark beetle outbreak
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The impacts of the bark beetle outbreak in previous years continuously reflected consequences in forestry and forest management in the Czech Republic with significant loss of forest stands. One of the more appropriate strategies is to aff orest these areas with a suitable forest reproductive material (FRM) with a declared origin of the seeds, nursery seedlings and nursery transplanted plants. The Czech Republic, as a member of the EU, has the obligation to create a functioning control system for the determination of FRM origin. For this purpose, genetic analyses using nuclear microsatellites were developed and optimized for several forest tree species, e .g . Norway spruce, Scots pine, European beech and for Quercus spp. the optimization of DNA analysis procedures is in the process.. Developed optimized methodological procedures could be used in the state control system to verify the declared origin of FRM and subsequently, this verified FRM could be used for aff orestation after a bark beetle outbreak.
