Der Fall den Grafen Leopold II. Lažansky (1854-1891) ist ungewöhnlicher. Lažansky frönte seiner Leidenschaft Schauspielerei unter dem Künstlernamen Leopold Neuhoff. Er entstammte doch einer alten böhmischen Adelsfamilie und war finanziell nicht auf dem Erfolg seiner Berufung angewiesen. Wie Autorin zeigt, versuchte sich der für Heldenrollen prädestinierte Graf nach vielversprechenden Anfängen zeitweise auch als Theaterdirektor, doch führten sein undiplomatisches Verhalten und seine Geltungssucht dazu, dass er nur noch auf unbedeutenderen Bühnen im Habsburgerreich engagiert wurde und schließlich die Bretter, die die Welt bedeuten, mit der politischen Bühne tauschte, auf der der deutsche Schauspieler zum tschechischen Nationalisten mutierte.

The case of Count Leopold II Lažansky (1854-1891) is unusual. Lažansky indulged his passion for acting under the stage name Leopold Neuhoff. He came from an old Bohemian noble family and was not financially dependent on the success of his appointment. As the author shows, the count, who was predestined for heroic roles, tried his hand at times as a theater director after promising beginnings, but his undiplomatic behavior and his craving for recognition meant that he was only engaged on insignificant stages in the Habsburg Empire and finally the boards that mean the world exchanged with the political stage, on which the German actor mutated into a Czech nationalist.
