In the production of vocal-instrumental music of the 18th century Czech composers, we can find one example of a composition dedicated to Saint Ludmila. The collection "Philomela Pia" by František V. Habermann (1747) is a rare example of a musical print, containing six masses dedicated to the feasts of the patron saints of Bohemia, among them "Missa sanctae Ludmilae". This print is dedicated to Bernard Slavík, abbot of the Benedictine monastery in St. John under the Rock (sub Rupe). This explains the dedication (Philomela=Slavík=Nightingale) and also the presence of the composition "Missa sancti Ivani", connected with the local cult. This hermit Ivan, who played an important role in the legend of Saint Ludmila, is a regular member of the society of patrons of the Bohemian (Czech) land in Baroque iconography, literature and, through Habermann's composition, also in music. Habermann's "Missa S. Ludmilae" served G. F. Handel as a source of counterfacts for the oratorio "Jephta" (1751).
