The article aims to show, primarily on the basis of a detailed systematic research of sources (Smetana&apos;s diaries, correspondence, repertoire statistics and other sources), what was the frequency of performances of Smetana&apos;s operas in the Czech theater during Smetana&apos;s lifetime and what financial effect they brought to the theater and to the composer himself. The results of this survey reveal the position of his operatic works - as a whole and individual titles - in the context of the opera repertoire of the Czech theater as a whole and in relation to domestic and foreign opera productions.
