Jewellery – Form – Content
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The book Jewellery – Form – Content brings together jewellery past and present, exploring it not chronologically but in terms of the ways in which jewellery can bear meanings. Starting with formal qualities, the book discusses the possibility to observe jewels from different angles, under various conditions, in a dialogue with real or fictious wearer. The individual layers of the language of jewellery are revealed in four chapters – Jewellery and Time, Jewellery and Light, Jewellery and the Body, Jewellery and the Figure. In each chapter, the items featured cover the greatest possible variety of jewellery, including permanent physical objects, jewels as subject to change or deterioration, and jewellery that exists more as a concept or event. The concept behind the book comes principally from the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
