Control of codling moth (Cydia pomonella L., Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) by the "attract and kill" strategy
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The "attract and kill" strategy against the codling moth (Cydia pomonella L.) was tested in a six-year field trial in three localities in Central and Eastern Bohemia. From 1999 to 2004, we evaluated the efficacy of two products, Appeal (Bayer AG) and LastCall (IPM Technologies), both of which are based on a combination of pheromone and insecticide. This was done on plots of different size and population density of codling moth. From 1999 to 2004, fruit injury caused by codling moth larvae as well as diepopulation density of codling moth was considerably reduced. The biological efficacy of the "attract and kill" strategy on the reduction of fruit injury at harvest ranged from 76.3% to 100%. Based on the results obtained in field experiments, the "attract and kill" strategy can be used successfully on large, medium, and small-sized plots.
