The effect of organic and mineral fertilization on nitrate content in soil during non-vegetation period: results of a long-term field experiment IOSDV
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The influence of organic and mineral fertilization on soil mineral nitrogen content at two sites with different soil and climate conditions (Lukavec, 620 m asl, cambisoil, mean annual temperature 7.3°C, annual rainfall 682 mm; Ivanovice n. H. 225 m asl, chernozem, temperature 9.36 °C, rainfall 558.4 mm) were investigated. Soil samples were collected in a long-term field experiment IOSDV in winter wheat before and after the winter period. Crop rotation in this experiment consisted of a root crop (potatoes in Lukavec; sugar beet in Ivanovice) – winter wheat – winter barley. There are three systems of organic fertilization (control – not fertilized, 30 t ha-1 manure for root crop, straw after cereals with a catch crop) and two levels of mineral nitrogen fertilization ( no fertilization and 120 kg N ha-1 total in three doses, 40 kg N ha-1 in the autumn period). The element most at risk for nitrate leaching is the high content of soil nitrate before the winter period. The main influential factors in nitrate leaching are: the yield of the fore crop (because of the residual fertilizer content in the soil); weather conditions during the winter period; soil quality (soil type, soil organic matter content); and fertilization management in the autumn. The efficiency of mineral nitrogen fertilization during the autumn period is very low and this contributes to nitrate leaching from soil to ground water recipients, especially in areas with high precipitation and on light sandy soils. A negative effect of organic fertilization on nitrate leaching was not observed.
