This presentation was delivered during my one-month Erasmus traineeship at MATE University in Gödöllő, Hungary. I worked at the Biotechnological Institute within the Microbial Biotechnology and Microbiomics research group, led by Dr. Ferenc Olasz. The presentation provided a brief introduction to the Veterinary Research Institute, covering its history, structure, and the ongoing projects of the Probiotics and Animal Health research group. The audience was introduced to an ongoing project focused on developing probiotic strains for post-weaned piglets, derived from the gut microbiota of domestic pigs and wild boars. I summarized all the results from this project, including the isolation and identification of the strains, genotypic and phenotypic characterization of selected isolates, selection of the best probiotic candidates, preparation of the probiotic mixture, and finally, the in vivo experiment on post-weaned piglets in our experimental stable. Dr. Olasz's research group has a similar field of expertise. Based on my traineeship in their laboratory and this presentation, they are considering future collaboration with the Probiotics and Animal Health research group of the Veterinary Research Institute.
