The workshop will be focusing on the topics of film sound, sound digitization, sound restoration and connected ethical and conceptual question. Some of the topics will be: film sound and its material manifestation, film music, material noise or the challenges of sound archives in the digital era. The aim of the workshop is, among other things, to establish long-term international cooperation with sound professionals and to develop awareness of the most pressing issues. Film music and film sound has come to the forefront of professional and public interest in recent years. This workshop is an organic reaction to the professional needs of the National Film Archive but also to the wide demand for access to materials related to the sound and music culture of Czechoslovak cinematography. The workshop will feature Lars Gaustad, head of the Norwegian National Library, sound restorer and film sound expert Jean-Pierre Verscheure, sound engineer and sound restorer of the Bundesarchiv Oliver Danner, professor at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt Sonia Campanini, sound engineer of the Slovak Film Institute Michal Fricman, sound artist Sara Pinheiro, curator of music and sound of the National Film Archive Jonáš Kucharský and others.
