Článek v konferenčním sborníku sleduje vztah českého krále Jana Lucemburského k Chebu a Chebsku a snahu krále posílit začlenění tohoto území do rámce zemí Koruny české. Politické souřadnice, do nichž se Jan Lucemburský zástavou Chebska začlenil, byly velice pestré a mnohostranné. Měly přesahy do sousedních regionů, souvisely s dalšími městskými centry (Praha, Norimberk), s církevními institucemi a v neposlední řadě s říšskou politikou Ludvíka Bavora, míšeňských markrabat a feudality ve Vogtlandu. Lucemburk na Chebsku mnohdy spíše otupoval regionální třecí plochy, než že by svobodně určoval vlastní politickou linii. Stále se sice snažil o užší připoutání regionu k Českému království, nicméně rozhodující obrat v tomto úsilí mohl přijít až s prosazením jeho syna Karla v říšském prostoru v letech 1346–1348. Trvalé připoutání Chebska k Čechám sledoval Karel IV. v rámci konceptu Koruny české a 1. března 1348 prohlásil Chebsko za nezastavitelné a neoddělitelné od českého království. Při zpětném pohledu lze konstatovat, že tento Karlův mandát byl přinejmenším pro Cheb samotný zachován až do 21. století.

This article in the conference proceedings examines the relationship between the Czech King John of Luxembourg and Cheb and the Cheb region, as well as the king’s efforts to strengthen the integration of this territory into the framework of the Lands of the Bohemian Crown. The political context into which John of Luxembourg integrated the Cheb region was highly diverse and multifaceted. They extended into neighboring regions, were linked to other urban centers (Prague, Nuremberg), to ecclesiastical institutions, and, not least, to the imperial policies of Louis of Bavaria, the Margraves of Meissen, and the feudal lords of the Vogtland. In the Cheb region, Luxembourg often served to smooth over regional tensions rather than freely determining his own political course. Although he continually sought to bind the region more closely to the Kingdom of Bohemia, a decisive turning point in these efforts did not come until the establishment of his son Charles in the imperial sphere during the years 1346–1348. Charles IV pursued the permanent attachment of the Cheb region to Bohemia as part of the concept of the Bohemian Crown, and on March 1, 1348, he declared the Cheb region to be inalienable and inseparable from the Kingdom of Bohemia. In retrospect, it can be stated that this mandate of Charles’s was preserved, at least for Cheb itself, until the 21st century.
