The chapter discusses the life and medical activities of Hájek, and it explains his attitude towards medicine, his medical studies, and his achievements. It also focuses on his views on contemporary medicine, mainly in connection with his foreword to a book by Laurence Gryll. In addition, it covers Hájek&apos;s activity at the imperial court and mentions his unique book on brewing beer. Place is also given to Hájek&apos;s diagnostic methods and to the controversies he was involved in, especially his controversy with Fauchelius. Finally, the chapter presents Hájek as a Paracelsian physician.
