Symposion Moral Competence in the Health Professions
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Panel 1 focussed on the "Unlearning of moral competence in medical studies" which has been demonstrated in many studies. The situation is serious: A low moral competence leads to bad way to handle moral dilemmas in the health system. And this despite the fact that we are confronted with so many of them. In Panel 2 we focused on moral dilemmas. What are they and how can they be used as learning tasks either. On the second symposion day we investigated how a low moral competence of professionals already manifests itself in a healthcare system without empathy (Panel 3). In Panel 4 we asked ourselves: "How moral competence helps to communicate better with patients?" Where we can start and what good experiences already exist is discussed in Panel 5. And even more than this: What would happen if we create favourable learning environments in medical studies and in hospitals? The Symposium "Moral competence in the Health Professions" shall serve as a nexus for global scientists, scholars, and practitioners in medical training, facilitating the exchange of insights, discoveries, and inquiries concerning the measurement and fostering of moral competence.
