The article focuses attetion on the search for suitable term for the archaeological find of an as yet unpublished artefact in which glass was melted and which was a part of the melting chamber in a discovered glassmaking furnace from the 9th/10th century investigated in Bratislava. The terms crusible, small melting pot, melting pot, &quot;pernica&quot; reservoir and melting tak are analysed from the perspective of their function in the historical glass industry and their admissibility in the grammatical rules of the Slovak language. A strong emphasis is placed on a comparison of Czech and Slovak terms concerning glassmaking. Based on this analysis, we select the most appropriate name for the analysed construction artefact of the early medieval glassmaking furnace.
