Pseudo-Anglicisms in Czech. Between borrowing and neology
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Although Anglicisms have been documented in Czech for quite some time, the Czech literature has never explicitly used the term pseudo-Anglicism or secondary Anglicism (nor any other corresponding term). The chapter introduces the concept to Czech and describes a sample of what the authors consider to be Czech pseudo-Anglicisms. Pseudo-Anglicisms occur in many languages, yet some types have attracted more attention than others. The survey of approaches to pseudo-Anglicisms in European languages reveals that they are conceived differently by authors discussing even the same language. The chapter devotes attention to exploring and defining the notion, outlining loan adaptation forms and neologisation processes in Czech, before it turns to the sample. The analysis of the sample presents the actual lexicogenetic processes and their distribution.
