The institution pr-hnr was interpreted as a harem in traditional Egyptological literature. From the 1980s, it began to be viewed as a group of performers, especially for the period of the Old and Middle Kingdoms. The objective of this paper is to show continuity in the function of the studied institution and to demonstrate how the original translation was incorporated into Egyptological studies.
