Das Ziel dieses Handbucheintrags ist es, die verschiedenen Interpretationsstrategien von Whiteheads ästhetischen Gedanken aufzuzeigen und zu systematisieren. Der Eintrag zeigt, dass sich die Interpretationen in mehreren Aspekten unterscheiden: 1) ob sie versucht haben, die Whiteheadsche Ästhetik systematisch zu rekonstruieren, oder nur einige seiner Gedanken zur Konstruktion ihres eigenen ästhetischen Systems verwendet haben; 2) ob sie sich auf die Kunstphilosophie konzentrieren oder Whiteheads breitere Definition der Ästhetik akzeptieren; 3) ob sie die Erwähnungen ästhetischer Erfahrungen, die sich auf Entitäten beziehen, die unterhalb der Bewusstseinsebene liegen, akzeptieren oder ablehnen.

This aim of this handbook entry is to show and systematize the different interpretative strategies of Whitehead's aesthetic thoughts. The entry shows that the interpretations differ in several aspects: 1) if they did try to systematically reconstruct Whiteheadian aesthetics or just utilized some of his thought to construct their own aesthetic system; 2) if they concentrate on the philosophy of art or if they accept Whitehead's broader definition of aesthetics 3) if they accept or deny the mentions of aesthetic experience which relate to entities lying below the level of consciousness.
