The article will in the first step provide broader context of transition and describe the different means of transitional justice which were applied by the CEE Countries. This will provide fundaments and create the framework for examination of the central issue of this contribution, which is the prosecution of communist crimes. Here authors will focus their attention on two interrelated aspects: choice of applicable law and statutory limitations.
