Die Überlegungen in diesem Artikel werden von der Grundthese geleitet, dass der systematische Ort, den Wissenschaft und Technik in Schelers Denken einnehmen, von seiner Lehre der Daseinsrelativität definiert wird. Eine weitere These bezieht sich von da aus auf Schelers Begriff des Lebens. Die Theorie des Daseinsrelativen zeigt, dass die Sachverhalte, die das Begriffspaar von 'Geist' und 'Leben' indiziert, weder einen Dualismus noch eine starre Polarität bilden, dass vielmehr beide Prinzipien ineinander wirken müssen, damit so etwas wie Daseinsrelativität plausibel wird.

The reflections in this article are guided by the basic thesis that the systematic place that science and technology occupy in Scheler's thought is defined by his conception of "Daseinsrelativität". A further thesis relates from there to Scheler's concept of life. The theory of Daseinsrelativity shows that the facts indicated by the conceptual pair of 'spirit' and 'life' form neither a dualism nor a rigid polarity, but rather that both principles must work into each other for something like Daseinsrelativity to become plausible.
